Sedgwick Avenue Tour

Sedgwick Avenue is south of Gettysburg. It begins as a continuation of Sykes Avenue at its intersection with Wheatfield Road and runs north to the United States Avenue, where it continues as Hancock Avenue. It is one-way heading north.

Although Sedwick's monument and headquarters marker are here, his 6th Army Corps was broken up as reserves and reinforcements all over the field. He remarked that at one point he had "not a man or gun under his command except for a few orderlies" and that "he might as well go home."
