Stone Sentinels, battlefield monuments of the American Civil War

Reynolds Avenue North

Reynolds Avenue is west of Gettysburg. North of US 30 it crosses over the Railroad Cut and passes a dozen monuments and markers commemorating the fighting on the first day of the battle. The northern part of Reynolds Avenue is two way traffic, has limited parking and can be congested. The intersection with always-busy US 30 can be dangerous.

At the north end of Reynolds Avenue you can turn left onto Buford Avenue, which leads to the Peace Memorial on Oak Hill, or right onto Wadsworth Avenue, which turns north and becomes Doubleday Avenue.

At the intersection with US-30 you can not continue south on Reynolds Avenue, which is one way northbound. (At least by car; we'll let you do it here.) To reach its southern portion either turn right (west) onto US-30 and then left onto Stone Avenue/Meredith Avenue, which will bring you back to Reynolds Avenue about halway up its southern section. Or turn left (east) onto US-30 and then right (south) onto Seminary Avenue, then right again on Hagerstown Road, which allows you to turn onto the beginning of Reynolds Avenue at its southern end. This will also bring you to the beginning of West Confederate Avenue.
