Culp's Hill rises just north of Spangler's Spring, dips to a low saddle, then continues north to a tall summit. Slocum Avenue goes up and over the center of the lower hill, while Geary Avenue skirts its western side. Both are one way heading north.
Most of the monuments are to Union 12th Corps units that fought here on July 2nd and 3rd, but the area includes the first Confederate monument on the battlefield - that of the 2nd Maryland Infantry.
