Ayers Avenue runs along the eastern edge of The Wheatfield. George Rose's nineteen acre field would see over 4,000 men shot down on the afternoon of July 2nd in some of the most savage fighting on the war.

The monuments of Ayers Avenue

Ayers Avenue heads one-way south from Wheatfield Road and turns into Cross Avenue at the intersection with Sickles Avenue. It eventually becomes Brooke Avenue and then DeTrobriand Avenue, returning to Sickles Avenue.

Sickles Avenue is also one-way west from Devil's Den to the Rose Woods. All traffic ends up back on Wheatfield Road.
