According to the most likely story, Reverend Howe fell at the top landing while his killer stood roughly where the monument is today.
The two trees at the very edges of the photo were "Witness Trees" to the battle. Sadly, they were removed in early January 2010 for safety reasons.
The linden trees were around 170 years old. |
