Looking east toward the crest of Cemetery Ridge. The monuments to (from right to left) the 42nd New York Infantry, 59th New York Infantry and Rhode Island Battery B can be seen over the crest, which shows both the elevation and the dead ground the Confederates found during the fighting on both July 2nd and 3rd.
