View of the monument to the 17th Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment on the Forney Farm Site at Gettysburg

Looking northeast from Buford Avenue just south of the intersection at Mummasburg Road. The parking area on Oak Hill is visible in the left distance. The Forney farmhouse, a two story wood frame structure, stood behind the monument until 1938. The badly damaged house survived the battle and was repaired, but had fallen into poor condition and was removed by the Park Service before the dedication of the Eternal Light Peace Memorial in the 1930's.
