6th New Jersey Infantry Regiment

The monument to the Sixth New Jersey Volunteers is south of Gettysburg on Crawford Avenue just north of its intersection with Warren Avenue. (see map)

The Sixth New Jersey Regiment was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Lieutenant Colonel Stephen R. Gilkyson and brought 246 men to the field.
