Form the monument:

Here the 32nd Massachusetts Infy.
2nd Brig. 1st. Div. 5th A.C.

about 5 o'clock p.m. July 2, 1863.

Withdrawn from here, it fought again in the
Wheatfield.
Lost in both actions
killed and wounded

The monument, designed by a member of the regiment, is a beautiful representation in stone of a pup tent. It is hung with a canteen and carries the Maltese Cross symbol of the Union Fifth Army Corps.
