Looking west from the position of the 20th Massachusetts south of the Copse of Trees. The buildings of the Codori Farm are in the distance on the left. Between the buildings and the monument is the small marker to the 13th Vermont Infantry Regiment, showing its position on July 3rd when the Vermont Brigade wheeled out from the Union line and attacked the flank of Pickett's Charge. In the distance to the right of the Massachusetts monument is the slender shaft of the monument to Colonel George Ward of the 15th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, who was mortally wounded at that location on July 2nd.
