18th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment

The monument to the 18th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment is south of Gettysburg in the Rose Woods insie the loop of Sickles Avenue.

The 18th Massachusetts was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Colonel Joseph Hays. It brought 281 men to the field, losing 1 killed, 23 wounded and 3 missing.

The monument was erected by the State of Massachusetts in 1885, and is marked with the Maltese Cross, symbol of the Union 5th Army Corps.
