Illinois at the Battle of Gettysburg

Although Illinois sent 239 regiments and batteries into the Union army dureing the Civil War, almost all of them served in the western theater. Illinois was represented at the Battle of Gettysburg by one infantry regiment and one complete and five companies of a second cavalry regiment, around a thousand men. About 140 became casualties.
